It is highly recognized that the Quebec immigrant Investor program is one of the fastest business categories. The advantages of applying through the Quebec Investor Category are numerous:

• The processing of the application by the Quebec Government could be completed within 3 to 9 months.

• No interview is necessary. (Providing that the evidence in your file is sufficiently clear)

• There is no condition attached to the immigrant visa as compared with the Entrepreneur program.

• You are free to move around as you wish in Canada. You may also remain outside Canada for a maximum period of 3 years without losing your residence status.

• Your children can immediately study at the University level, saving substantial tuition and other fees otherwise required for a student visa. They could also receive a government bursary.

• The application is simplified: there is no need to submit a business plan or undertake an exploratory visit for a business project.

• You may invest in a small business without having to submit performance reports to the Government.

• Donations and gifts are now admissible in the calculation of the net assets if they are received at least six months prior to submitting the application.

• The spouse’s assets are included in the calculation of the net assets.

Under the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program, the candidate must meet the following conditions:

- Hold a minimum of $800,000.00 CAD in total net assets between himself and his spouse
- Hold a minimum of 2 years management experience in a legal business (agricultural, industrial or commercial), in government or in an international organization within the last 5 years preceding the application for a selection certificate of selection or hold experience in a legal professional business where the staff, excluding the candidate, occupies at least the equivalent of 2 full-time jobs

-   Invest $400,000.00 CAD free of interest for a period of 5 years after which time the full amount will be refunded.

If the Quebec Investor does not wish to freeze the amount of $400,000.00 CAD for a period of 5 years, he or she will have the option to borrow the investment amount through a designated broker or trust company by paying a lump sum of $120,000.00 CAD covering interests and administrative fees.

Important: The total minimum assets and the total investment amount will be increased within the year 2010. The Quebec and federal authorities are contemplating modifying the regulations to increase the minimum requirements. It is strongly recommended to apply before the regulative modifications.
