A delegation from China, lead by the Director General from the Department of Patent Management of the State Intellectual Property Office of PRC (SIPO) was in Montreal in February 2012.
This important delegation of six individuals permitted discussions and exchanges with a representative of University of Montreal and a specialist in intellectual property law in Canada.
On February 6th 2012, the Associate Dean of Research and Development and also emerite Professor at the University of Montreal, Mr. Jean-François Gaudreault-Desbiens as well as the distinguished specialist in Intellectual Property Law, Mr. Dominique Jobin, exchanged notable information with the chinese delegation during a special gathering organized by the law firm, Bellemare & Vinet Attorneys.
The Director General of the Department of Patent Management, Mr. Weiye Ma, informed the participants about the Government of China’s priorities over the protection of patents. Mr. Ma pointed out the advantages in settling disputes with the support of SIPO that offers free assistance for patent holders that are implicated in intellectual property disputes and, more specifically, with industrial patents.
The ‘China’s Action Plan on intellectual property protection’ was evoked during the conference.
The delegation also had the opportunity to exchange with other participants during a cordial luncheon offered in honor of the delegation by Bellemare & Vinet Attorneys.
